Vijaywada Team to the rescue
Rains are always welcome! This year though, some parts of the country got more than they prayed for. Heavy rains lashed the state of Andhra Pradesh, wrecking havoc, leaving thousands homeless and stranded, during the months of September – October. It was then that employees from Royal Sundaram’s Vijayawada branch took hold of the reins and decided to provide assistance for those left homeless.
With the help of a local NGO, they identified “Ravilanka”, a small village, 80kms from Vijayawada. With every one of the 80 families evacuated and living in temporary shelters, the need for rescue and basic essentials was vital. The team pooled in and purchased mosquito nets, aluminium utensils, and clothes as those were the most urgent of the needs.
On October 10th, nine members from the team made a trip to the village; part of the journey had to be via a one hour boat ride. Gratitude was what they received in return for the items distributed. Thanks to Royal Sundaram’s initiative, the villagers found some respite amidst the trauma.
